Like several projects here, this is a WORK IN PROGRESS.
This is a an open random parts deck where I added the 6″ Glider. Unfortunately my glider died so investigation into that tragedy is ongoing.
Right now I am in the beginning phases but here’s some parts gathered and features pondered:
- E Ink Laptop based around MODOS Glider board and a 10″ e ink panel from Ali Express
- Mech keyboard using:
- 40% Detour board from xxx. I wanted a 5 row board but I couldn’t find one in staggered format. Next best thing is the Detour which has a 4th row with 4 macro keys + knob or key + OLED. Bonus I have a full Detour keeb and can keep the same layout and layers.
- Low Profile clicky blue switches. Chocs don’t have standard footprint but supposedly the XXX ones do.
- Case is based on XXX which someone on the Cyberdeck Cafe discord translated from the Formlabs format to 3mf which I can use with Onshape to edit and Bambu studio to print. Bonus it fits on the smaller build plate at work and I won’t have to depend on the larger models at the makerspace.
- The design I am hacking from has 4 18650 for power and was made to take interchangeable CPU boards with Pi 5 being what came with it.
- I would also like to make it with a KVM to be a keyboard/monitor for phones, etc.
- Can I fit a touchpad? I need to stretch the design a little taller so, maybe?
This is the display on the original case print. It is not too far off and it will grow in a direction that might give me room for a trackpad and it will still fit on the small build plate.
